2026-2027 Visual Arts Competition

Our 3rd Annual Visual Arts Competition

This exciting competition is designed to encourage and celebrate youth visual art skills and gives the youth we serve another outlet for their creativity! The winning submissions will used to create a set of twelve note cards and envelopes.

The competition will limited to two age groups:

  • 7 year olds and under
  • 8 to 11 years old

Participants must be 11 years old or younger on October 1, 2025.

Drawings and paintings must be created on 11″ wide by 8.5″ high paper (or construction paper).

This year’s theme is Stronger Together.

Local and International Competition

Vigo County

The club will work with teachers in the Vigo County School Corporation. Each school will select the three best art works for each age group to the Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club. The deadline for submission to the club is Thursday, February  5, 2026.

From the submissions, the Breakfast Optimists will select first, second and third place winners in each age group. Winners will receive:

  • 1st Place: $125 to the student and $125 to the teacher for classroom
  • 2nd Place: $60 to the student and $60 to the teacher for classroom
  • 3rd Place: $50 to the student and $50 to the teacher for classroom
  • People’s Choice: $40 to the student and $40 to the teacher for classroom
  • Honorable Mention: $25 to the student and $25 to the teacher for classroom
  • Honorable Mention: $25 to the student and $25 to the teacher for classroom

The winners of our local competition will have their artwork submitted to Optimist International to compete with the winners of all of the other local competitions.

International

Optimists International will select 13 winners who artwork will be featured in a set of note cards. One winner will be displayed on the cover and the other dozen will be shown on individual note cards. Each of the International winners will be awarded $150.

The overall winners will be required to submit their original art to Optimist International.
